Your hosts Sadie Beyl and Emily Thiroux Threatt are thrilled to announce the 5th edition of the From Mourning to Light online grief summit.
Just as in the previous installations of From Mourning to Light, it will focus on exploring the magic that happens when someone you love dies. On this event, Sadie and Emily interview diverse speakers and authors so that you can (from the comfort of your own home) learn from a diverse selection of people who have been where you are now.
This summit series consists of informal conversations that demonstrate the multiple and diverse ways people are able to rebuild their lives in meaningful and unique ways after having experienced the death of their loved ones.
Sadie Beyl is the founder of the From Mourning to Light online grief summits. This is the fourth event. Sadie was a professional architect who ran a small practice in Cape Town with her architect husband, Paul Beyl. After Paul died in a motorcycle accident in 2019, Sadie sold her car, packed a suitcase and moved to Italy. Besides the From Mourning to Light grief summits, Sadie is a spiritual grief guide who assists those in grief with her 10 Week Transformation Workshop, meditation, mindfulness, Angel card readings and past life regression sessions.
Emily Thiroux Threatt is an award winning author of the books, Loving and Living Your Way Through Grief: A Comprehensive Guide to Reclaiming and Cultivating Joy and Carrying on in the Face of Loss, The Grief and Happiness Handbook: A Supportive Guide to Help you Reclaim your Life After Grieving. She has also created The Grief and Happiness Cards, each card is carefully crafted with a gentle and supportive message.
In addition to writing her book to provide comfort and support to people dealing with grief and loss, she also founded the Grief and Happiness Alliance which meets weekly on Zoom to write together and do happiness practices all at no charge. She is the host of the Grief and Happiness weekly podcast. And she is a Happy For No Reason certified trainer. Emily has much experience in the grieving process including for the death of two husbands and has learned to face life with love, optimism, and joy.

Reverend Richard Carlini
Reverend Richard Carlini is an ordained Unity minister and currently serves the Unity congregation in Davis, CA. He is also the senior minister of an alternative ministry, Transform Myself Inc., A Unity Ministry. Richard was the co-host of The Healing Power of Grief on Unity Online Radio. He teaches Ministry at the End-of-Life at Unity Seminary. Richard has facilitated many virtual Death Cafes and Dialogues on Death and Dying. He has been a registered nurse for over 45 years, 25 of them in hospice and palliative care.
Vickie Menendez
Vickie’s journey as a Transformational Coach was born from over 35 years of self-care, experience and personal loss. In 1980, she faced the heart-wrenching loss of a full-term stillborn, followed by the loss of her son in 2017 and her father in 2018. These back-to-back tragedies resurfaced unresolved traumas from childhood bullying and sexual abuse, asking for her attention. Through faith and self-reflection, she found healing and began to see her true calling to help others through their pain.
Rickie Byars is an acclaimed and beloved singer-songwriter in the genre of inspirational/New Thought music. Her music resonates in churches of all denominations throughout the world. Live audiences and FB/YouTube streamers who take part in the KUUMBA/B-hood Sunday Devotionals are uplifted through her music and her messages—always delivered with joy and sincerity. Meghan Riordan Jarvis
Meghan Riordan Jarvis, MA, LCSW is an author, podcast host (Grief is My Side Hustle), two-time Tedx Speaker, sought after key note speaker, psychotherapist, educator, and consultant specializing in trauma and grief and loss. Meghan is trained in a host of intensive healing modalities (including IFS, EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, IMAGO and integrative nutrition and Reiki). Eileen Santos Rosete, MSMFT, PCD(DONA), CYT 200
Eileen Santos Rosete, MSMFT, PCD(DONA), CYT 200, holds a master of science in marriage and family therapy from Northwestern University and is certified as a DONA International postpartum doula, trauma-informed yoga teacher, and grief educator. Her brand, Our Sacred Women®, is known for its elevated offerings that help women feel seen, held, and honored. She is especially passionate about supporting all who give birth and are postpartum both after live births and after loss.
Molly Peacock
Molly Peacock’s latest poetry collection is The Widow’s Crayon Box (W.W. Norton), a book-length sequence of poems that dares to affirm the vast variety of emotional colors in loss and rejuvenation. Peacock charts widowhood in the twenty-first century. Her other books of poetry include The Analyst: Poems and Cornucopia: New & Selected Poems, as well as A Friend Sails in on a Poem. Also a memoirist and biographer, she is the author of two books about creativity in the lives of women artists Flower Diary and The Paper Garden: Mrs. Delany Begins Her Life’s Work at 72. A dual citizen of Canada and the United States, she lives in Toronto and teaches at 92NY.
Leslie Yerkes
Leslie Yerkes is the President of Catalyst Consulting Group, Inc., specializing in organizational development and change management. With a focus on creating sustainable organizations, Leslie has worked with clients like NASA, The Cleveland Clinic, and Chrysler. She is a recognized author and speaker, known for her books on workplace motivation, including “Fun Works” and “301 Ways to Have Fun at Work.” Leslie also writes children’s books inspired by real-life dog rescue stories. A graduate of Wittenberg University and Case Western Reserve, she teaches at the Weatherhead Executive Education Center.
Brian D. Smith
Brian is a Grief Guide and Mental Fitness Trainer. Brian’s mission is to help people rediscover who they are and why they are here. Brian believes that the key to thriving in life is understanding who we are, where we came from, and where we are going. Brian began this work shortly after the untimely passing of his 15-year-old daughter Shayna in the summer of 2015. Brian overcame an extreme fear of death before Shayna’s passing. Jamie Lee Silver
Jamie Lee Silver, known as The Grief to Gratitude Guide, is a certified EFT Tapping and Energetics practitioner who helps people transform grief into gratitude. After the tragic loss of her son Ben to schizophrenia in 2015, Jamie turned her pain into a mission to heal others. She co-authored Our Forever Ben, based on her communications with Ben in spirit, and founded the non-profit Ben’s Memorial Mile, raising over $150,000 for mental health research. Her “Grief to Gratitude” System has helped countless individuals find peace and purpose through loss.
Karen Johnson
I am an Advanced Master Shaman personally trained by Alberto Villoldo, Founder of the Four Winds Society. I am also a senior teacher with the Four Winds Society teacher with the Four Winds Society and have trained extensively in the techniques of Illumination, Soul Retrieval, Extractions of Energies and Entities, Divination and Death Rites. I’m a graduate of Georgetown Law Center (J.D.), a former Fulbright Scholar in Afghanistan, and hold Masters Degrees in Public Health and Public and International Affairs (MPH, MPIA).
Tracey McAtamney
Widowed at thirty-eight with two young sons, she faced immense devastation but found the strength to rebuild their lives. She sold their business, started her own, founded Surviving Bereavement, and became an author. Now, twenty years later, her sons have grown into remarkable men, a testament to her resilience. Her journey is a message of hope, showing that even in the darkest times, there is always light ahead, and the hidden strength she discovered after her husband’s death continues to shape who she is today.
Linda Rampling
Linda is a widow, mother, grandmother, author, and photographer. Originally from England, she worked as a fashion model and was the editor of a village magazine, while also engaging in charity work. After the passing of their first grandson, she and her late husband retired to Southern France in 2001, where he passed later that year. Her son’s death deepened her curiosity about life, leading her to attend mediumship courses and establish the Advancing Awareness group, which meets weekly to explore esoteric topics. She is also a Caring Listener for Helping Parents Heal and has contributed to two anthologies, Gathering at the Doorway and No Separation. Additionally, she co-authored Come Hell or Dry Water, set in Africa. In her spare time, she enjoys walking her three dogs in the countryside and caring for her three rescue cats. She also facilitates a Power of Eight group every Monday.
Lady Phyllis Okon
Phyllis Okon co-founded BLS Limousine Service with her late husband nearly fifty years ago, starting from her kitchen on Long Island. After his passing, she and her two sons expanded the company, now proudly woman-owned and globally recognized. At 55, she launched a writing career, publishing 83 books under the names Carole P. Roman and Brit Lunden, including bestselling children’s books and the YA novel Grady Whill and the Templeton Codex. Following her husband’s death, Phyllis pursued mediumship, gaining recognition from Seatbelt Psychic Thomas John. As “Lady Phyllis,” she now offers mediumship sessions and courses, combining her teaching background with her passion for helping others, showing that age is no barrier to success.

Michael and Ashlee Cramer
Michael Cramer, a 23-year-old cancer survivor and bone marrow transplant recipient, and his mother, Ashlee, share an unbreakable bond forged through unimaginable challenges. Michael, once a surfer and Olympic Development team windsurfer, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma, in 2020. Despite the odds, he has survived after enduring chemo, radiation, a bone marrow transplant, and severe complications. Ashlee, a former dancer and early childhood educator, became Michael’s full-time caregiver, having already faced the loss of her husband to cancer in 2016. Together, they’ve turned their pain into purpose, sharing their story through a podcast, blog, and motivational speaking under the theme “beauty in pain” and “love,” inspiring others both within and beyond the cancer community.

Nicky Alan

Paige W Lee
Paige Lee is an author, grief educator, spiritual teacher, healer, and the co-founder of Transcending Grief. Her life was forever changed by grief and loss. Her 23-year-old son Bryan transitioned to Spirit in 2008, but he did not die in vain. He left behind him a legacy of love and compassion that continues to touch the lives of millions around the world. Irene Weinberg is a public speaker, author, and host of the popular podcast Grief and Rebirth: Finding the Joy in Life. Two months before, during and just after her husband died next to her in a tragic car accident, Irene received profound messages that led to a spiritual awakening and her book They Serve Bagels in Heaven. Having learned to pay attention when seemingly “out of the blue” messages dropped into her head, one day Irene suddenly heard the word “podcast” and so began the next part of her soul purpose. The mission of Grief and Rebirth: Finding the Joy in Life Podcast, which is touching and helping people all over the world, is to educate, enlighten, and provide healing choices through interviews with grief and trauma specialists, healers, mediums, and people who have inspiring stories of healing, transformation, and rebirth to share.
