When my husband died, and more recently, my mother, I found myself asking this exact question. Hi, I’m Sadie Beyl, and my dear friend and colleague, Emily Thiroux Threatt, asked herself this too when both her husbands passed. We both realised something powerful—grief has no “right” way. Each journey is unique, just as each soul is unique.

Sadie Beyl is the founder of the From Mourning to Light online grief summits. So far she has hosted 4 successful events. Sadie was a professional architect who ran a small practice in Cape Town with her architect husband, Paul Beyl. After Paul died in a motorcycle accident in 2019, Sadie sold her car, packed a suitcase and moved to Italy. Besides the From Mourning to Light grief summits, Sadie is a spiritual grief guide who assists those in grief with her 10 Week Transformation Workshop, meditation, mindfulness, Angel card readings and past life regression sessions.
Emily Thiroux Threatt is an award winning author of the books, Loving and Living Your Way Through Grief: A Comprehensive Guide to Reclaiming and Cultivating Joy and Carrying on in the Face of Loss, The Grief and Happiness Handbook: A Supportive Guide to Help you Reclaim your Life After Grieving. She has also created The Grief and Happiness Cards, each card is carefully crafted with a gentle and supportive message. Emily created the Grief and Happiness Alliance non profit after she experienced the deaths of two husbands, first her beloved Jacques passed away and then her second husband, Ron died. Both of her husbands were terminally ill with the same condition!
